So this morning … I got my first COVID-19 vaccine jab!! Yeay!!
The Netherlands has really sped up the vaccination rate in the last couple of months or so. People in low risk group have been invited to make their vaccine appointments; and this has been done by following the year of birth order.
My birth year turn was actually on the day of the departure of my mini vacation to Lisbon, and the appointment system only opened up just minutes before boarding! Lol 😆 . I obviously tried an attempt to book a slot before boarding commenced as I would rather have an appointment made before the trip! 😀 There was a mini drama involving system failure which apparently required me to clear my mobile browser’s cookies and history. But thankfully I managed to secure a pair of appointment slots, just like 2 minutes before boarding began, yeay!
When picking up the possible appointment dates, I looked at the day of the week because my office granted a day off for each vaccination day. And so I picked days that were close to the weekend, haha. However, what I completely oversaw was actually the time. It turned out that my appointments would be in the early morning! Darn! A friend of mine actually told me of a way to potentially change the time of the appointment, but in the end the timing didn’t work for me. Oh well…
Long story short, I got up really early today, which kind of sucked because last night I tried to get to be earlier but I just couldn’t fall asleep, lol. Anyway, I had an Indomie (ramen noddles) to make sure that I had already eaten something before the shot (I read somewhere to not come to a vaccine appointment with an empty stomach? Haha). I then went to the vaccination centre.
Everything was really well organized, with clear signages and really efficient officers. And so while there was a line, it actually went quite fast-paced, which was really nice! The required documents that were needed from me were also checked multiple times, so make sure that you have your documents ready! Anyway, it turned out that I was given the Pfizer one. The jab was given really quickly as well, from thereon I was directed towards the observation room, where I would need to wait for 15 minutes for … well, an observation, in case something went wrong. But it turned out I was fine so after 15 minutes I left the room. Well, after getting a stamp on my yellow vaccination book which, for the first time since 2014, went on action 😛 .
Thus far I’ve been feeling fine. The only side effect is the little soreness on the arm, but even that is not bad at all. It is similar to the soreness you feel when you lift some weight at the gym after an extended time off, haha 😛 . I also feel a little bit sleepy and tired but I attribute that more towards my lack of good night sleep . So yeah, so far so good! I will have my second jab at the end of next month.
