#2393 – Tennis is Back!

Finally some great news! Due to the promising trend on the numbers revolving the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands, as of this week some limited relaxations on the restrictions have been put in place!

For once, we are now allowed to play tennis again! Yeay! πŸ˜€ I am really, really happy about this! As I mentioned not too long ago, jogging had started to feel boring to me, despite my attempts to mix and match my jogging routes, haha. This was bad because for exercises I have always been aiming for the long-term rather than short-term. So already started to feel boring to me was certainly not a good sign for that!

And so the announcement on tennis came at exactly the right moment! This obviously makes a lot of sense, given that tennis is not a contact sport. There are still some restrictions in place, though (also for tennis), so it’s not like we are back at ‘normal times’ even in tennis. But at least we can play again here!

So that’s why a friend of mine and I immediately booked a court this Monday, the first day when the strict no-play restriction was lifted. Even though the weather on Monday wasn’t the best for tennis (it was windy), but we didn’t care, haha. My regular tennis lesson also resumes this week.

After about three months of no play, obviously my game is really rusty! Haha πŸ˜† . But so does everyone else’s I guess. But what I didn’t expect was that … I felt quite ‘heavy’ when moving around the court! I thought my jogging activity would keep my conditioning ‘in check’ but it evidently didn’t work as well as I thought, even though this wasn’t reflected in my body weight, haha. Oh well, I saw this as a wake-up call, actually! I need to watch what I eat and my physical activity more closely then during this intelligent lockdown!
