I got to Schiphol around three hours before my scheduled departure time. The airport was not busy at all today, though this was a trend I had noticed for a couple of weeks (Also two weeks prior on my way to Madrid). The non-Schengen Crown Lounge was also not crowded at all, which made the lounge really pleasant! Haha 😀 . I grabbed some food as it was dinner time; but just enough while still leaving some space for the dinner onboard later on, haha.

Anyway, today’s flight to Jakarta (via Kuala Lumpur) would be operated with KLM’s Boeing 777-300ER reg PH-BVP named Jasper National Park. Prior to boarding, the gate agent announced the entry restrictions imposed by the Indonesian government due to COVID-19 (This was at the end of February, when it was not yet declared as a global pandemic by the WHO).

Seat 1A

Boarding went smoothly, where I was led to the first air bridge for door L1 and I settled onto my cozy 1A seat, haha 😀 . Not long after a flight attendant distributed the amenity kits and a round of pre-departure drink. As always, I opted for a champagne, haha 😛 .

The captain then welcomed all passengers on board, and announced that the flight to Kuala Lumpur today would take 11 hours and 25 minutes. We started the pushback not long after, the safety demo was played via the IFE screens, and took off from runway 36L towards Southeast Asia.

Warm towels and the menu books were distributed after take-off. Unlike on my previous World Business Class flight (to Toronto), Wine List was also available on this flight, yay! 😀 The departure snack service was then served. As usual, I opted for a bowl of Dutch cheese which I paired with KLM’s new Anniversary Cocktail.

Dinner was then followed. For appetizer, the choices were either beef and mixed mushroom or tomato soup. I, of course, opted for the former, which I paired with a glass of Pinot Noir. It was quite nice, haha 😛 .

There were three options for main course: grouper filled pasta, miso marinated chicken thigh, or braised veal tartlet. I opted for the chicken thigh option, which I paired with a glass of Chardonnay. This turned out to be the right decision because the chicken thigh was really good!

For dessert, cheese plate or sweet bites were available. With my sweet tooth, obviously I went for the latter, which I perfectly paired with a dessert wine, haha. As usual, after dessert the flight attendant distributed KLM’s house chocolates.

It was then around midnight (Dutch time) already so it was time for some sleep. I brushed my teeth and made my seat to lie flat mode. I put on my eye-mask and … I got a solid six hours of sleep! It was such a nice experience made possible by the duration of the flight! I woke up feeling really freshed! 🙂

Upon waking up I was served with a glass of orange juice. The breakfast service then followed not long after, with three options: scrambled eggs, pancakes, or plain yoghurt with granola. I opted for the eggs, which I accompanied with a cup of coffee.

Anyway, KLM’s IFE content had been updated a lot since my previous World Business Class flight, which I really appreciated! They even had Doraemon’s newest movie: “Doraemon: Nobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration” which I wacthed spottedly throughout the flight to Jakarta 😀 .

It was then time for KLM’s huisjes as we were approaching Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) already. I picked house number 97, which was modelled after the Hotel New York in Rotterdam.

We then landed smoothly at runway 32L of KLIA and parked at our gate at the Satellite Terminal. All passengers had to disembark the plane with their belongings upon transit here. Through passengers to Jakarta also had to go through security check at the gate upon transit, btw. The gate was quite cool btw where a large area was blocked only for SkyPriority passengers. It was super convenient!

A new set of crews would operate the short flight to Jakarta. And after they finished preparing for the flight, boarding started. I went back to my seat 1A. Pre-departure drink was served, and I opted for a glass of champagne. I then quickly regretted not asking for a glass of water as well because the security check at KLIA meant I had no mineral water with me in case I got thirsty, haha.

Glasses of champagne

Anyway after all passengers boarded, pushback began. Safety demo was played and we took off from runway 32R. We then made a u-turn south towards Jakarta.

Dinner service then began. Due to the duration of the flight, dinner was served on a single tray. It consisted of otak-otak as the appetizer, a choice of main course (Padang-style chicken curry or roasted beef), and gula hangus cake as the dessert. The meal was really good!

Though a let-down on this short fifth freedom flight was the drink options. It seemed that they didn’t stock enough wine on this plane, so when I asked for wine to pair my dinner, they could only serve me the wine from economy class 😅. Similarly when I asked for the dessert wine, they could only give me a glass of port wine.

Tea before arrival

As we were approaching Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the flight attendant distributed the huisjes. But because I was flying from Amsterdam and already got one, they did not let me have another one (I asked, but the flight attendant said no 😅).

Anyhoo, we then started our descent and not long after landed at runway 25R of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which wasn’t a long taxi to Terminal 3 Ultimate.

Upon disembarkation, I had to fill in a Health Alert Card just at the gate because of the COVID-19 situation. I then submitted my card to the officer, cleared immigration, took my luggage, and cleared customs. I then took the Skytrain and checked in at my transit hotel in Terminal 2.

And here, my two-week vacation in Southeast Asia officially began…

Makan malam kemudian dihidangkan.

Ketika bangun aku merasa segar! 🙂

Setelah bangun pagi, jus jeruk dibagikan.

Bahkan film terbarunya Doramon: “Doraemon: Nobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration” juga ada loh!

Dua gelas champagne

Anyway setelah semua penumpang naik pesawat, pushback dimulai.

Layanan makan malam kemudian dimulai.

Rumah-rumahan Delft Blue-nya KLM
