#2306 – A Weekend in Luxembourg City

ENGLISH

A few weeks ago, two friends of mine invited me to join them on a weekend trip to Luxembourg City. I would like to join but at the time I wasn’t sure I would be able to make it as I was in the middle of my visa application process. But thankfully my visa was approved not long after and soon my passport was delivered back to me; and so now I could definitely make the trip!

Hello, Luxembourg City

Luxembourg City was exciting because the last time I was there was about 8.5 years ago! Yep, it was from my Blogspot time before this WordPress blog! That long! Haha 😆 . Since then, to be honest I have been wanting to go on another weekend trip there. But somehow I found the return ticket price to be constantly on the higher side of things, making it a bit difficult for me to “justify”. Btw, yea even though Luxembourg is not far away from the Netherlands, getting there with train requires a significant detour resulting in a 5-6 hours trip one way, whereas with flight it is just less than an hour. Anyway so this invitation provided the right “justification” for me to (finally) buy the return ticket! Haha 😛 .

The return flights were operated with KLM Cityhopper with their Embraer ERJ175 and ERJ190. Even though due to the (very) short duration of the flight, KLM only provided a super basic snack service (just like in their Bremen-Amsterdam flight). I got a stroopwaffle on the flight to Luxembourg, and a small piece of waffle on the way back, each was accompanied by a small cupped water.

The Luxembourg Airport was fairly small but was actually quite busy. It was kind of annoying that the lounge was closed at the time, though, especially as I had decided to go to the airport early thinking I could try out and wait at the lounge. Darn! Anyway I was “lucky” to travel during the weekend as the public transportation within Luxembourg City, including the bus line to/from the airport, was free! Haha 😛 .

Luxembourg City

And Luxembourg City was … very pretty, just as how I remembered it from 2011! It was even better this time around as it was sunny on Saturday! Even though it was quite warm too, though, as the temperature hovered around 30°C during the day. But it was overall fine because the city was full of parks. Even “parks” might be an understatement as those looked more like “forests” actually, with all the dense tall trees! Haha.

Luxembourg City

The city was also split into parts by the many river valleys, which made such a unique, and really cool, view! Plus, there were old, cool structures on the valley hills too. So those kind of made the city to look like being build on top of an ancient fortress, in the middle of a big forest!

Luxembourg City

My general impression of the city remained the same, though. I still found it to be a “quiet” city, like I did back in 2011. Having said that, on Sunday, at least in the Old Town area, it was actually quite lively!

Given the amount of time we had, we only stayed in Luxembourg City this time around. But it was still nonetheless very fun, as I got to spend those time with some good friends of mine! We had a lot of fun!

BAHASA INDONESIA

Makanya kalau naik kereta jadi lama banget!
