Perusahaan Ketjap Kudus in Den Haag

Some time ago when I was grocery shopping, I spotted the following sweet soysauce at one of the racks. Okay, you probably need to speak Indonesian to understand why I bothered to take the photo (because it was quite funny in some ways πŸ˜› ).

You see, it was soysauce by “Perusahaan Ketjap Kudus” (translated as “Kudus Soysauce Factory”), implying the factory’s location in Kudus, Central Java. However, it was stated at the bottom of the label that the production was actually in Den Haag, the Netherlands. Yeah, so a factory of an Indonesian product with an Indonesian name but with production in the Netherlands, haha.

Though, I might actually misunderstand its name, though. Instead of “Kudus” as a noun (thus, referring to the Central Javan region), it might actually be the adjective “kudus” (translation: “holy”). This would actually explain the phrase “selalu terpudji” (translation: “always commendable”) put below its name, haha πŸ˜† .

Lamb shank at Mata Hari

Anyway, in the last week of May, a friend and I caught up in Amsterdam. And we decided to have dinner at a restaurant called “Mata Hari”, that was actually not an Indonesian restaurant, haha (“matahari” means “the sun” in Indonesian). It was actually a Mediterranean restaurant.

Thanks to Yelp, we chose this restaurant, because the food was really good! Plus,Β I found it to be quite fairly priced, especially considering its location (near the touristic area of Amsterdam, i.e. the infamous Red Light, haha πŸ˜› ). Anyway, I decided to order a lamb shank and some french fries. The lamb shank and its salad was really good; though I regretted the french fries because I actually did not really need it as I got too full afterwards, haha πŸ˜† .

Akibatnya aku kekenyangan deh setelahnya, haha πŸ˜† .
