#1829 – A Saturday Story

A Meetup (Kopdar)

Early last week, Kutubuku messaged me on Instagram that she would be in Amsterdam for a weekend and invited me for a meetup at a bar on Saturday evening. My Saturday evening agenda was still free so of course I said yes. You see, not only the Indonesia-based bloggers who could organize a kopdar, the Europe-based could too! ๐Ÿ˜›

Fast forward toย Saturday. I arrived a little bit early at Beer Temple, where we were set to meet, and the bar was full at the time. But luckily when we all met, a group (of tourists from England, I knew because I talked with one of the guys, lol ๐Ÿ˜† ) just left so we could take their now vacant seats. She visitedย Amsterdam with ScandiGuy and a Danish friend.

In short, it was a fun evening. We tried many different beers and they showed me a beer app (which apparently was happening now which I was unaware of, lol ๐Ÿ˜† ) they were using to collect badges. We ended up at the bar for a good 3.5 hours where we talked and talked about so many different things. I had to leave at 11:30 PMย because there was a less frequent train service between Amsterdam and Delft today due to a maintenance. After we parted, though, I just realized that we forgot to take a picture together, lol ๐Ÿ˜† . Well, I blame the beers for this, hahaha…

Speaking of Saturday, a good tennis news (to me) was made. By advancing to the Paris Masters final, it was guaranteed that Andy Murray would be the new world no.1 when the ranking was updated this Monday, replacing Novak Djokovic at the top of the list.

To be honest, a few months ago looking at how Djokovic dominated tennis for the first half a year, I thought it would be pretty much impossible for someone else to dethrone him from the top this season. However, a combination of Djokovic’s dip in form after the French Open (where he completed the Nole Slam which I witnessed, btw) and Murray’s strong second half of the season (despite losing in the quarterfinals of the US Open) made this achievent a reality!

Wow!! So obviously I am super happy! In my opinion, Andy Murray is a great player in a golden tennis era; but this means the competition was super tough as well where he had to face Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic all in their prime years too. So to finally reach this pinnacle of the sport was definitely something he deserved. Especially for his perserverence, where he had to “wait” for more than seven years since the first time he hit number 2 (in August 2009) until he hit number 1 (in November 2016).

In a way, I could see this as a replacement for my disappointment when Serena Williams was dethroned from world no.1 in September, where Angelique Kerber took over the spot. I understood why it happened, though, as Serena was hampered by many physical problems this year and decided to focus only on the grandslams, something reasonable, and actually smart, given her age, of course. But still, as a fans I think it was normal to feel a little bit of disappointment from that, haha ๐Ÿ˜† .

Anyway, congratulations, Andy!!ย ๐Ÿ’ชโ˜๏ธ

Anyway,ย selamat, Andy!!ย ๐Ÿ’ชโ˜๏ธ
