#1269 – Early Week Story

ENGLISH

Today

Just like last week, today I worked in Utrecht for the whole day. And as I said last week, the cafeteria in my Utrecht office was so good (well, at least much better than the ones in TU Delft) so obviously I had my lunch there. And what was for lunch today? They had several choices for warm meal and I chose “babi pangang”, a meal whose name itself was still in Indonesian, even though spelled a little bit differently from how it was in Indonesian (so obviously it was a Dutch adaptation of an Indonesian meal). It was a nice meal even though it was not authentic, AT ALL. I mean, if I ordered a “babi panggang” in Indonesia, I would expect a meal which is so different from the one that I got today. But all in all, for a €3.85 meal, I guess I wasn’t supposed to expect anything more spectacular than that, right? Hahaha🙂 . It was still quite tasty though. So I am not really complaining😉 .

Speaking of going to Utrecht, this morning I decided to cook a vegetarian pasta for breakfast. And it wasn’t just any pasta because I used tortelloni (stuffed with mushroom) this time. Well, obviously I did not make the tortelloni myself (I just bought it from the supermarket, lol😆 ). I cooked it aglio e olio style, basically with this recipe except that I changed the rosemary with oregano, and added an egg and tofu (because it was vegetarian so I thought I needed some extra protein). The tofu was inspired by the vegetarian meal I had a few weeks ago (at that time, my friend ordered a pasta with tofu). It was quite nice. The change from rosemary to oregano made the meal taste more authentic, IMO.

New Faces

Anyway, when I went grocery-shopping yesterday, the supermarket was quite crowded and I saw a lot of “new” young faces who came in groups of a few people, huahaha😆 . Then I realized it was almost mid-August already so I assumed they were new students coming into Delft for their study.

Seeing them reminded me of the first a few months of my life living away from my parents. I moved to Bandung to go to university and lucky some of my good friends went to the same university as well (though different majors). And during that time, just after I moved but well before the first semester started, we often went together around Bandung. You know, just like these “kids” now who were going around Delft together, hahaha😆 . The stories can, probably (I am not so sure now, lol😆 ), be read here in the August 2006 archive of my old blog.

Prince Friso Passed Away

On Monday, Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau passed away. He had been in a coma for about one and a half year because he was buried in an avalanche in Austria. My deep condolence and may the Prince rest in peace.

BAHASA INDONESIA

Hari Ini

Pangeran Friso Meninggal Dunia

Di hari Senin, Pangeran Friso of Orange-Nassau meninggal dunia.
